With a new found love for Guinness (and Irish food), this gastropub is the place to be for an upscale Irish vibe without the expense.
It's obvious in every dish that they use high quality ingredients to produce an modern Irish/Australian fusion menu that was as varied as it was delicious.
The Port Phillip Bay Scallops were filling enough to be considered a main meal with the cauliflower cream and black pudding a winning combination. And the crispy chicken skin atop the Humpty Doo Barramundi is a must try! The Irish Stew was hearty and please do yourself a favour and devour anything soda bread because that stuff is what bread dreams are made of!
The brussel sprouts are made Irish by the addition of a whiskey glaze and ensure to leave room for dessert because the sticky date pudding is the best I've ever tried both here and overseas! That whiskey and brown bread ice-cream honestly deserves a post of its own!
The Guinness is made even more fun by their machine that imprints pictures on the foam and as much as it's a novelty, its worth ordering even if one is not usually a Guiness fan.
Nothing has lasted here since Bridie O'Reillys but I hope this place can stand the test of time because in my opinion, they are absolutely worth a visit!
