Only go here if you are REALLY desperate. Parking is shocking. Rooms are VERY basic. Only double bed. NO cutlery. Could not eat anything. They have basic crockery (no bowls) but nothing to eat anything with. When staying there for work, the reception is not open at the time I need to eat breakfast so that is not helpful.
Walls are so thin. The woman next door was terribly inconsiderate and had her TV blaring until well after 11pm. Most unwelcome when needing to rise very early the next morning. Would not ever stay here again under my choices.
The only good thing was the meal at the restaurant. That was very nice but not enough to make me want to stay again.

Standard pub motel rooms. If you're looking for something fancy, it might not be your cup of tea. But if you're simply looking for a place to rest your head at night, while on a budget, this'll do.

There are some things though that I think would be awesome if the motel could look towards giving a thought to:

Despite there being "no smoking" signs around, as soon as we opened the door, the over powering smell of smoke hit us so hard it and we spent the whole time we were there trying to air out the place. Because of this, I probably wouldn't be staying here again simply because as a non-smoker, it was quite unpleasant.

The ventilation in the rooms is non-existant. This made it hard to not just be in the room but try and keep the stale smoke smell at bay. While heat is not something Tassie usually has to take into account, when we were there, we were boiling in those rooms. There was no fan provided either. My fiancee had to get up multiple times throughout the night to open the door and stand by it just to get some air circulating the room. Might be nice to see a fly screen put on the doors so at least the door can be left open?

The only natural light coming into the rooms is the window facing the carpark. This is fine if you don't like privacy but if you want some light, then the only curtain in the room (which is a black out curtain) has to be pulled open, leaving you super exposed. A sheer curtain could go a long way in terms of customer comfort. This would provide light and privacy too.

I don't really know how to get around the sticky floors other than to suggest guests byo slippers because the floors were pretty grimey but it's to be expected in a pub motel.

All in all, the room sufficed. Service was great and the staff were friendly. Rooms just could do with a bit of TLC.

Went for tea lastnight with family and ordered a grilled chicken burger, it fell apart as it had to much on it which im not complaining about so i had to pick at it, which I am glad I did, I ate most of it until I got to the chicken, it was still mostly pink... I used to work around chicken a far bit and the "chef" said that is how the chicken turns out when cooked... um okay let your customers get food poisoning...

Unfortunately it was quite hard to enjoy our meals when it was hotter than hell it's self in there! Everyone was sweating and uncomfortable, even had to strip down my otherwise well behaved baby and taken him outside to keep him cool and stop him crying so I could eat my meal,
When I asked a staff member (who are all lovely btw) if there was a heater on as that's how it felt she apologised and said that the AC was broken. This may be Tassie and it may not get overly hot most of the time but when it does it gets hot! I truly hope the owners plan on getting the AC fixed soon and not subject their hard working staff to a horrid summer in that hotbox. Look forward to coming in again to enjoy another otherwise wonderful meal once it's a bit more of a comfortable environment. My meal was 10 outta 10, the staff was 10 outta 10. But please fix the AC.

I needed a bed for a few nights; I don't need a view - decent bed, a good shower, and a good restaurant to have some comfort food. The Top of the Town Motel/Hotel delivered at a surprisingly low price...

I travel a lot - my criteria are simple - clean and fresh, and my choice is never the money. A motel is my home away from home. Top of the Town in Burnie, Tasmania, gave me everything.

For a token fee, they deliver food to your room - their food choices are many, from a lamb roast to steak, a palmy or pasta... many options... but the winner for me was rissoles like my mother used to make.
Basic veg, in Tasmania, the vegetables are miles better than the mainland options, and the T&T staff deliver with courtesy and a smile...

Be aware of the external look of the property - Top of the Town in Burnie is miles better than its facade presents. It hides out the back behind other buildings.

My husband and I went for lunch today for first time and will be last. firstly ordered two cokes and two cans were pushed over bar apparently they can't afford glasses then meals came I had roast lamb the serve was huge but could only eat veggies as lamb was tough rubbery and fatty the sauce my husband had on meal was lumpy and congealed. Will avoid in future

We had take away food. Proper 'pub grub'. Excellent quality food. The whole family loved it. Top of the Town beats other establishments in the area hands down with food quality!

Had diner there tonight 4th of August and it was terrible. The garlic prawns were so so bad the steak wasn't cooked correctly the sauces were absolutely disgusting I make better at home fire your so called "chef" and start again who ever the chef is, Is bringing you down the food is well below average, but the prices are high so who cares. Very disappointing.

Rooms tired and unpleasant. No meals eaten here so can't comment on service. Noisy intoxicated people in adjacent units, drinking and fighting in the carpark. Staff tried their best, but police needed to be called as this went on all night long. Felt very uneasy staying here and won't do again.

We stayed there for convenience and I know you get what you pay for but..... trying to check in was a struggle, outside light on all night lighting up the bed, electric blanket cord tapped up with electrical tape, door stop in the bath room right in front of the toilet where you feet are meant to go, tiles missing from bathroom floor. On the upside the room was very clean.

Cheep good pub / counter meals a bit old in decore but it serves well for what it is cheep accommodation is what you would expect great for the tradies or civil construction workers working away if you you need to put your work men up somewhere in burnie good parking for trucks and trailers just a real pub with great local atmosphere only down fall is the pokies that could be made redundant.

Honestly Extra Guests Spider and Cockroach.
Power points are Dangerous with exposed wiring.
Shower terrible. Inconsistent 1 minute Beautiful then Extreme Hot or Cold.
Bed Not too Bad with comfort but mouldy pillowcase.
Room stinks like carpets have been damp.
Used air freshener to disguise the mouldy smell
Noisy and Not really comfortable.
However food looked good at Bistro..but didnt eat there. .
Accommodation Definitely give it a miss...

Room was not what I would consider clean including very stained carpets. 2 spiders crawled on me and everytime I turned a tap on a spider came out. You have to lay flat on your back to plug anything into the PowerPoint by the bed. Noisy fridge, screeching taps when anyone in the building uses a tap. TV remote power button not working, 2 clock radios, 1 doesn't work and the other the volume is not adjustable. They provide a plate but no cutlery. Noisy at night and early hours of the morning. Reception not welcoming and initially said I didn't have a booking. Worst place I have stayed. I would not recommend.

Location was good for where we wanted to be
Rooms were old but fairly clean, except should probably open a draw or 2 and clean
Checking in was poor and never received receipt which was requested on a few occasions and still don't have it
Meal in bistro was good when finally received the right order
Wouldn't rush back here to stay

Rooms are clean tidy but basic. Just today had tea in bistro, very nice. Most meals $20 -$30 good size portions. My adult children also enjoyed there meals so when I come up again in 6 week time we will go again. Staff are friendly and helpful.

If it works don't change it!
For years we have eaten at this hotel and the meals have always been fantastic, the mixed grill was the best I've seen anywhere and recommended to friends. We haven't been for a few months and came back last night and the mixed grill has gone along with half of the kids options. The sauces have changed and honestly all tasted horrible especially the gravy, too much unneeded herbs on the garlic bread, the steak was half the size it should be for the price and our table and the wall beside it was crawling with ants. Will be looking for a new regular place to eat.

Working in the hospitality industry myself I was a little taken back about trying to book a room rang the bell and waited then headed into the dining room only to be set to the bar. Then was told to wait as the bar was busy and had to serve the customers. Well I'm sorry I didn't meet the standards of being a customer, then after waiting about 10 mins was sent back to reception area. I was stunned, I nearly left, but I was so tired and hungry I didn't have the energy to leave. I really enjoyed my meal and the room was comfortable which lessoned the blow of earlier experience
.

left but I was so tired and hungry I bit the bullet. The only thing I enjoyed about this experience was my meal

Always a good quiet place for a few games of 8 ball, but this time we were very rudely spoken to at closing time, maybe the young lady working thought we were having a big night but most of us were sober as a judge and well aware of her tone...

The food was ok but no vegan options available.
Reasonable prices but we all left feeling hungry still. The child's meal was very small, perhaps for a toddler.

Wow what a difference a new chef can make. Last time we ate here (over 6 months ago) the food was disgusting. Now everything was delicious!! Hats off to the new chef. We will be back again.

Wow the meals have improved so much. The new chef has done a great job with the meals and esp the sizes. The calamari is actual proper calamari and not from a box sold at Woolworths. The last lot I got was disgusting . Cannot fault the meals this time. Huge compliments to the new chef she has done an amazing job. We will be back. The mixed grill took me over an hour to eat and my mum's calamari was so tender and divine. The parmigiana was nice size and not over done with the sauce . With the flat head fillets we got 4 pieces and not 2 tiny lifeless ones. The meals have improved soooo much .. OMG the burgers are HUGE and out do the burger bar in Wynyard .. the Top of the town has got the best chef ever !! No I don't know her but her meals are AMAZING !!! Worth every cent .. ? oh the cheesy herb garlic bread was nice but could do with few more herbs ? but still amazing .

Had lunch on Thursday I had potato skins enjoyed them my parents had roast potatoe sloppy meat was tough and frozen veggies were still frozen. I think the cook needs to go back and learn how to cook a real roast like mum used to make, the old fashioned way.

Excellent food, fast service and wow, huge servings. Although the meal sizes were huge, they were flavoursome and nice. The prices were exceptional value, more so given how large the meal sizes were. Although, they were down one staff member on the day we visited, the staff were friendly and the service was still fantastic. All in all, an extremely nice venue, exceptional value for money and great food. Certainly a change from the 'old day's after not visiting the venue since the 'old days, I'd like to say thanks and we'll be back again.

The worst place I have ever encountered as a tourist. There is no front desk staff. I rang the bell 3 times and was totally ignored, I had to chase up a staff member. My room booking was was charged for 2 people and I am travelling as a single person and I am still trying to get a refund. The meal arrived cold but looked over cooked. The motel room has solid glass but no windows that open up for fresh air. I do not feel safe in this town having to need to have the front door open on a hot evenings night. As a female traveller, I don't feel welcome or safe. This is a hicks village to the maximum. The staff are ignorant and don't smile at all. I am have booked in for 3 nights and believe this is a big mistake
