The Vic Hotel Footscray, Footscray VIC

They let you book specifically to be able to see football (good for the sports ball people). Staff were friendly, food was good. I had lamb shanks but the others had burgers. I only have one sketchy photo sorry. We sat at the tall sport-bar-tables but there's a very nice dining room away from the ruckus.
Entry we used was stairs so not accessible.

The Vic Hotel is a contemporary pub located on Victoria St in Footscray. It has been around since 1870 although changing hands and undergoing renovations many times. The current team combined have brought you @luxsmith_seddon, @bottegarestaurant and the now closed @copperpotseddon.

There were multiple different seating areas inside and out, including a bistro, outdoor courtyard, bar and street. The vibe was great, it was very busy on a weekend however we walked in without reservation. ☺️

âž- Chicken Parma - didn't come out piping hot like the schnitzel. The crumb was soggy and the chicken was dry. The cheese was cheddar not mozzerella which was disappointing. The overall flavour was good, and I liked the choice of ham used.
âœ"️ Chicken Schnitzel - great! would've loved some pub/thick cut style chips rather fries with smoked paprika.
âž-3 Cheese Croquettes - these were ok, there wasn't a cheesy pull or much sense of cheese, but we did get an extra one!

At first, I thought geez $33 for a parma is crazy! But after checking all the nearby pubs for their pricing, they were all around $32. When did this happen?! 🤯 We will give it another go in the future and hopefully it improves.

Trivia night atmosphere was really cool, and discounting a couple of drinks for the night is smart customer service. Most places don't do that on trivia nights. The chicken Parma was really tasty, however the let down was it has little to no cheese and sauce which is a shame because the chicken itself was really tasty. The chips admittedly were pretty plain too. I don't think it's fair to pay $33 and you get more of a schnitzel rather than a parmigiana & average chips. Chef needs to do better there. The wedges were okay but they were legit like the size of half potatoes. People want crispy wedges not feeling like we are eating just whole potatoes. Some easy fixes and it makes a big difference to enjoying those dishes much more. I would come back and try again though as it was a nice spot. Hopefully they listen to feedback and can at least make the Parma like it's meant to be.

Love The Vic, and with new owners I can happily say it's still awesome...or I would say it's even better than it was. Great selection of independent local craft beers on tap as well as your standards. Food is excellent...loved the Bratwurst and shoestring fries. Footy is always on and they even asked if we wanted the sound on, how nice of them. But you can avoid watching the footy pretty easily if you're not a fan.
My one piece of feedback is that they some sort of noise / sou d baffling...it gets ear piercingly noisy in there when it fills up, it's like the sound bounces around and amplifies.

Thank you to the chef and staff at this wonderful venue. We had such a lovely time and the food was out of this world so delicious! With two entrees, several drinks and mains the price was also excellent for great quality food. Special thank you the staff who are simply amazing people!
