Really nice lodge style pub and great food options

I've never had such a beautiful meal from a pub. Holy moly.
Today we visited the Wallace hotel for the first time, we ordered the cauliflower bites and salt and pepper calamari as entree, this was the BEST I have ever eaten.
Then the parmas came out. My lord. The homemade sauce, the crunchy breadcrumbs, even the salad. Absolutely immaculate. Best Parma we have ever eaten, I didn't want to stop.

If I could give 200 stars I would. Definitely worth the visit. We will be coming out here a lot more often.

Great pub and staff. The owner manager has a great sense of humour. Good selection of beers on tap, too. Highly recommend.

Our favourite country pub! Friendly staff, great food, they cater for dietary requirements like gluten free and vegan, and super quirky fun atmosphere. I have never struggled finding a table, and they do events. We are booked to do our engagement party here. Couldn't be happier 🥰

Our first visit to the highly recommended Wallace Hotel. Lovely interior, very warm on this cold Winter's day and much bigger than the exterior would first suggest.
Very busy for Sunday lunch, I assume they were quite understaffed today as we waited over an hour for our meals (kids meal did come out faster) and nearly 1.25hrs for a simple hot chocolate. Staff were hit and miss with their level of friendliness, which again, I can only assume might be due to being severely overworked on the day.
Food was decent; salt & pepper squid was under-seasoned, creamy chicken pie was very good, popcorn chicken was also great.
They have a separate vegan menu, from which the veggie pizza was very good.
Outdoor area looks like it would be a fantastic place to spend a sunny afternoon.
Will be back to give this place another go - hopefully we catch them on a better day, because most other reviews suggest we might have just been a little unlucky for our first visit.
