While the town and pub appears a bit run-down, we were pleased with the friendly, helpful service, relaxed atmosphere and great value, tasty meals. This little pub was almost put out of business by COVID restrictions but the owner is battling on alone. He deserves support. Free camping is available on site for self contained vehicles or cheap camping with facilities is available across the road. We parked our motorhome out the back and shared the big fire pit, after closing time, with friends who stayed in the hotel. Our fire wood was not all needed, as some was provided. We enjoyed bacon and egg rolls with coffee at the nearby Cafe in the morning. It is a good spot to stop if passing with a caravan or motorhome and an interesting destination for a day trip on those days it is open. I hope to organise a group of motorcyclists to enjoy a scenic ride over the rolling hills, through sweeping bends amongst graceful wind turbines, then stay to enjoy the hospitality at the Hotel. We were assured barbecue catering can be arranged in advance for large groups. I want to support this little, old country pub. It would be a sad loss if it closed like so many others that have already gone.

Coming off the Heysen Trail, staying at this pub was exactly what was needed. You can't put a star rating in hospitality and a genuine intention to provide and care. I was looked after across the board by Graham... From a room, a meal, food then next day. It was a great experience and one of the highlights of my trip. Thanks again Graham, keep up the great work!

Myself & my mate have visited this unique Pub 3 times in the last 3 years , and absolutely LOVE it !!
It is a very small , intimate, old-style Hotel with a open fireplace & cosy environment.
It feels like you're stepping back in time 100 years.
Graham the Publican is a Lovely bloke , very relaxed & accommodating- and is a BRILLIANT cook ??'-
We have stayed over each time , the rooms are comfy and he provided breakfast for us to help ourselves each time.
We will definitely be back !

We came through Hallett cycling the Mawson Trail and Graham opened the pub for us to stay and cooked us dinner. Great old country pub. Graham also locked the bikes on the alcove for us. Great host.

An old fashioned small country pub. No beers on tap, but good selection of cans. Had the beef burger and fish for tea. Both beautifully presented and tasted amazing. Good value too.
Only a handful of friendly locals in for a Friday night drink and happy to chat. The owner and barman were easy to deal with. If you're in the area call in and support the pub.
