Wynyard Hotel - Pub in Sydney New South Wales

A good after work watering hole. Not a place I'd take a girl if you want to impress. But good for a few quick drinks after work

The hotel, if you can even call it that, more like a hostel, works by the fact that the location is fantastic, everything else is kinda lacking. The reception is the bar itself and the stairs up are steep and difficult to traverse if you have trouble walking. The rooms themselves are dusty and very minimal. The road beside the hotel is sure to keep you up throughout the whole night. The bathrooms are not private but were decent. No breakfast either, but there is conveniently a shop righty by it. Other than price and location it's pretty bad, but on a budget it works

Small pub front bar that Wasn't that busy on a Friday evening, but slow service and incredibly noisy for the number of patrons. Would be a different experience for a weekday lunch, I expect.

This place was great. Room was clean and the noise was minimal despite being over a pub.

Food was absolutely perfect. The chef and yes, he deserves to be called a chef and not a cook, made our meals quickly and the steaks he cooked were perfect.

Staff is friendly and helpful.

My wife and I will definitely come back again.

Pros -
Great location, affordable rates, friendly staff, comfortable bed and clean room.
Cons - no signage (that I saw) to indicate a reception area (check in was at the bar), wasn't able to call reception at any point during the stay as the phone went unanswered. My room was very warm and the fan didn't work, I had to open the window but lodge a pillow in it as it didn't stay open. Floors were super creaky and impossible to not wake people up during the night if you go to the bathroom.
All in all, good for a night or two stay
