Young Hearts

I'm sure it's a great place if you're a local but if you're a visitor I wouldn't bother. Was so difficult to book a table even despite trying far in advance, even changed all our plans to get here at the only time they're open on the weekend we visited for our anniversary.

It's basically just a nightclub on a Saturday night, even at 7pm. Was so loud we could barely order our food. Then we ordered our food and they were out of the only thing we changed all our plans to come here for. I've worked in restaurants and when you have a small menu with only 4 mains, not planning appropriately to ensure the availability of the most popular of those is pretty poor form.

Changed to the prawn and snapper dish which read nicely on the menu with the other mains but turns out it was just a burger which should have been in the burger section of the menu.

No pictures because I was so disappointed and underwhelmed I just wanted to eat and make the 45 minute trek back to the city after wasting our time. With minimal nights on a visit to Melbourne and so many amazing places to visit I wouldn't bother with here. Again, probably great if you're a local.

Beautiful set up and decor only outshone by its drink selection and food. Honestly I think this was the best tasting steak I've had in years and the potato royale was divine. Staff were extremely knowledgeable and lovely, and the chefs conjure up miracles. Then to top it all off they have some of Melbourne's best musicians playing live jazz while you eat.

Would give more stars if it were possible

i have mixed feelings about this place.

Sure it is great for an intimate visit and the low lighting sets the vibes. The staff were nice i just found they were rude at times and sort of spoke with a condescending attitude, not really what you want when you visit somewhere new!!

The cocktails were pretty good (although i was sad they did not have egg whites) i understand it was a vegan cocktail place... but those are my favourite cocktails so it's a shame i couldn't enjoy my favourite type of cocktail at this place.

The food quality was excellent given the price was nice and affordable.

Found about YH on Broadsheet and really enjoyed our experience here. Nice personnel, the vinyl set by the dj was very relaxing, the food and cocktails were on point. The chefs are using very good products like tomatoes and olive oil and you can straightaway feel the difference in taste from other places in Melbourne. Highly recommend!
